Here are the answers:
All domains we register are registered on your behalf by us. You own the domain. If you want to move it to another provider at a later date then unlike many other providers, we won't charge a release fee (usually £20-£50 each). All we ask is that your account is settled in full before we commence the transfer.
This rather depends on what type of business you run, your customer base and your current marketing methods. In general having a website will have benefits. Having a website cannot harm your business unless it is out of date, too expensive to produce, slow to load or so nasty that it just annoys your customers!
When we talk about your web solution we will discuss the nature of your business and how to get the most out of a website. We will make suggestions regarding appropriate ways to gain the most from your investment.
For many established small businesses, search engines can be much less important than simply using your website to make the most of your existing advertising. For some niche market businesses, traffic generated by search engines can be especially effective. It really depends on the type of business you run and your overall marketing strategy.
We optimise customers sites to ensure that search engines can read and index the content with ease. We review the site content to check that pages will give good ratings for target keywords and make sure that the traffic we get to the site is relevant and not just someone wanting to copy all your images!
When your site is finished we submit your site to a range of search engines and monitor the results, resubmitting when needed. We will discuss the best approach for your business as part of the initial planning stage. Search Engines are not a 'magic pill' that can automatically boost your business.
Subscriptions are collected by standing order which is generally very reliable. If there is a hiccup in the payments we'll contact you to let you know and make sure you still need your site.
If we haven't received payment after 28 days from the payment due date, we place a holding page on your site and your site then becomes inaccessible. If we still haven't received payment from you after another 28 days we will decommission the site and you must settle your account with us in full.
No. If you don't want to continue with a website solution then just let us know and we can make the necessary arrangements to close your account and provide a final settlement invoice. We would appreciate 28 days' notice but don't insist on it.
No. Our solutions work with a standard web browser and the majority of the processing is done by our server. As long as you have an internet connection then you'll be fine. You may need a budget digital camera if you need to get photos onto your site but even the cheap ones produce good results on the web.
The logon systems we use make sure that your password is never sent in a readable form over the internet. This makes it difficult for a hacker to determine your password without having access to your PC. You must keep your PC's Virus Checker software up to date to stop any viruses or 'Trojan Horse' programs from being installed. This is the most likely way anyone could gain access so if you've got this covered then chances are that you'll be trouble free.
The vast majority of site hacking takes place due to poorly configured servers or newly discovered security risks being exploited before servers are updated. We run Linux servers which are immune to common attacks aimed at Microsoft servers. Our systems are kept up to date with the latest patches to minimise the risks.
Most small business sites are of little interest to hackers. We do not store any valuable information like credit card details on our servers so there is no financial reward for any hacker to gain access.
Of course, it's also not seen as particularly cool to hack into the site of the local florist!
We don't get picky about charging for minor updates. If you want a few words changed here and there once a year we're not going to charge you.
If you want to have your site redesigned at any stage then all you need to pay is the design portion of our original quote at current rates. You can always add bits and pieces to a site at a later date and can even transform an existing fixed site by adding tools so you can update content yourself.
